About the Crop Residue Exchange
17% of farmers that don't graze residue list lack of access to cattle as the major reason.
- University of Nebraska-Lincoln survey funded by Sustainable Agriculture and Research Education (SARE)
We want to fix this. This exchange serves as a way for crop producers to better make available their crop residue to cattle producers and develop mutually beneficial grazing agreements.
Although our primary objective is to develop farmer-cattlemen relationships, we plan to use this website to also provide educational material that supports those relationships. Examples of those materials include:
- A lease agreement template to assist in the contract arrangement between the cattle owner and the farmer
- A tool to help farmers and cattle owners correctly stock crop residue fields
- Summary information on crop residue grazing rates
